On the body of it right under where the cap mounts is: C90F 8L1 12127 M Autolite. On the shaft there is C8VF 12131-B. It says 351W on the cap, but what little info I was able to find seems to lean towards FE? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.
I'm thinking it's a 351W distributor from 1969....except did they even make them back then? this is an FE
I think 69 was the first year for a 351-W and the gear should be made for a 5/16 oil pump shaft,it its made for a 1/4 inch shaft its probably for a 302.
Looks like my 351w distributor. Mine has a small pin that goes in the hole right above that drive gear for the oil pump. It wont run without it.
'69 was the 1st year for 351s, they were the Windsors. I think the 351 Clevelands(bigblocks) came out next year. The ID # you gave doesn't cross, doublecheck it & make sure to get the complete #s - sometimes they weren't stamped in very good, made it very hard to positively ID the distro. It should be something like C90F 12127 L or similar. If infact the prefix # is C90F it's a '69 and likely 351. But they Ford used 302s and FEs (390s/428s) that year too so the last set of #s on the distributor case will confirm correct application. And yeah make sure that pin that holds the gear on is the right one, it should be a hard, rolled pin & not just a soft one. Used to sell lots of 'em at the Ford garage cuz guys'd put a soft pin in them & they'd shear off right quick. Ford part # for the correct rollpin is 61489-S
Definitely not an FE, different body/shaft design. The C8 part number would lead me to believe 302, but you'll probably need o measure the shaft diameter and length from where it mounts against the manifold to the end of the shaft to know for sure.
Well I looked again, and I don't know how but apparently I did miss a few letters. I already edited my first post, but the correct sequence is C90F 12127 M.
...or a torino, or a cougar... It's a C90Z-E distribitor, replaced by a D00Z-M. 351W w/2bbl carb, standard or auto trans.
