What are you looking for?? I have all the GM Service Information. You need set-up stuff?? Parts breakdown??
Thanx for the url. but if someone has a good picture that would be great.. i need this info because i want to use a camaro rear axle for my 1953 chevy pickup
The rears from the later model Camaros are too wide for your truck unless you're planning heavily offset wheels. If you already have the rear the parts should transfer (minus axles) into a 4-wheel drive Blazer rear which will be the proper width.
i didnt buy the axle right now any better ideas?? because i realy want to have disc brakes alround...
also i have used now a chevrolet caprice 1988 rear axle and that fits... but i want to have disk brakes..
You need 2nd gen, 72-83 F body cars. Rear end is the right size but you're gonna have trouble...I'm doing the same on a 58. Neither as fun nor as easy as those who paid someone to do it said.
What kind of trouble are you talking about and can some one please tell me the size different from a 1998camaro and a 2nd gen f-body
If the 88 Caprice rear is a 7.5 ring gear you may be able to adapt the disc setup from the late Camaros. Be advised though that the 7.5 is not noted for its strength. It'll be allright for a cruiser but don't hammer it.
I'm using a nine inch Ford in my sedan, it was necessary to narrow it so in that process I put GM type ends (bearing flanges) on it and just bolted up some 1994 Camaro brakes. The axle ends are available from several sources, I got mine from DTS. I planned from the very beginning to use a 16" X 8" reversed steel rim on the rear and it clears the calipers nicely. A 15" rim would be close but you might end up grinding on the caliper body. The Ford Explorer axle may be your best bet dollar-wise.....unless you do all your own work like I do (free labor). With my big GM 11" front brakes the car stops like it hit a brick wall.
Like some of the others were saying, the f body camaro/firebird rear ends fit perfectly. I found a pile of crap '79 Trans Am for $150 bucks and used the front clip and rear end out of it for my '50 chevy pickup. Sold the rest of the TA for $140. The rear end measured 55 inches from backing plate to backing plate and fit like a glove. Then I took it out because I found a posi unit with discs out of a '75 Camaro and went with that instead. It is slightly larger at 56 inches, but still gives me plenty of room for 235's on a 15 inch rim with no brake clearance issues.
This person is using a 1987 caprice chassis copmplete with rear end so can anybody tell me the different size between 1987 caprice and a 1998 camaro rear end http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2203245
