I’m building a new SBC 383 stroker(chev factory short block crate motor) with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake and FI tech fuel injection, MSD HEI, Turbo 350. The crate motor suggests a GM cam that is 474/510 and 208/221. As well as 1.5-1 roller rockers.

I need to purchase a new cam and lifter kit for it to get it all rounded out.

I need to pick out the cam, and would like the most power from it that’s smart considering that I have 4 wheel drum brakes with vacuum assist. There isn’t an additional canister at this time. I don’t want to sacrifice safety. Low end torque as well as consistent power through the throttle would be the goal.

If anyone has any advice for me on cam selection I would really appreciate it. I don’t have a lot of experience in this arena, and know that chevy’s recommendation is likely based on more modern braking systems.

Thank you all for any advice, I appreciate it.
