had a chance to recently tag along with a friend to visit the shop of a 80's something engine builder. my friend has been trying to get his V8-60 going for a Bonneville run this year. But, found that engine developed a crack that can not easily be repaired. so, trying to figure best way to set things up for another motor to run next year. the block in the trailer was built 18 years ago for drag racing. the last pics are from the GoodGuys Show in Pleasanton, CA. enjoy:
Cool pics. I met a guy in Nampa Idaho that builds old flatheads out of a metal building in his back yard. My son and I stopped by trying to buy a model frame he had out front. Well 1 hour later after talking with the guy he takes us into his shop and he had flathead V8s and a bunch of banger parts with a dozen or so overhead conversions lined up on a shelf waiting their turn. He was at least late 70 and has bee. Building flat heads and banger every winter for decades and during the summer he was a truck driver. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
There is a similar guy who lives out in Beaumont CA with a backyard shop of interest housing a lot of flathead Ford stuff. I think he does very little these days but the shop is all history. He has become some what of a reclouse I am told. I was that surprised to come across it years ago, I never did get any pic's. I am told he once was a hot rod builder of note in the Pasadena area way back when.
If you are speaking of a guy named Warren, he died a couple years ago .... he knew his flatties and had a shop full of goodies. Hella guy.
Here's Rodger Nelsons shop he's in Sugar House. Salt Lake City. stopped by the shop before going to Bonneville 2013
