I am trying to find a set of diffusers, to fit in the lenses so i can get more light filling the lens rather than use LEDs. (even with leds, i think a diffuser would be needed.) Does anyone know of any aftermarkets made, or have a nice tech/how to, so i can make my own? Any other suggestions? I really hate seeing that bulb through the lens.

    Thanks

The factory diffuser is just a small cup shaped lens that fits inside the red lens. You could cut down some clear backup or turn signal lenses into a circle and glue them into your lenses.

The better repop Caddy taillight assemblys come with them but the cheapo's usually don't. I may have one loose somewhere, if I can find it I'll take a pic.

Also paint the buckets white. The white reflects more than silver.

On my 53 i just used Tin-foil, shiny side out. Bright as a stoplight when only a tail light.

Try glass beading the inside, will give a different look, but it works. TRY IT ON SCRAP TAIL LIGHTs. that my legal disclaimer, lol

McMaster sells some acrylic that's textured for diffusing light. I'm not a huge fan of seeing bulbs through lenses either. McMaster's stuff is kinda pricey, though. $71 for the textured stuff and $31 for the prismatic stuff, which is kind of like what you'd see on a regular reflector. You could probably find some lightly textured acrylic at a hardware store and put it in there so the light gets diffused and the bulb gets hidden. 1930roadster has a good idea, but if you don't want to scuff your taillights you could get some thin clear acrylic or lexan and scuff it with sandpaper or like he said a bead or sand blaster.
