Who knows how to paint a faux burl wood for dashes. Can't find an old thread on the subject. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Try: http://woodgraining.com The method used in 20s, 30s, 40s transferring woodgrain patterns onto metal. I did my dash, but not in burl pattern. They have a couple burl patterns I believe. It was easy enough for an amateur like me to learn. Practice piece, testing three different graining patterns the real piece in progress
There are two styles, transfer and hand-painted. Transfer is the way the OEMs did it, but hand-painted opens up all kinds of possibilities. If I'm not mistaken TheHIGHLANDER has done quite a lot of the latter. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search/53558242/?q=woodgraining&o=relevance

I'm not creative or artistic enough to do it by hand. rusty-rocket here on the Hamb had his daash and moldings done by hydra graphics, there is a thread about it.
Bob Kennedy in Whitter ca has done a few for me 38Zephyr, 36 Ford, 47 Cadillac 48 Cadillac and maybe a couple more I just don't remember. They are beautiful. BUT a big problem with wood grain is people banging on it to see if it's real wood. Rings chip
