Projects Bunch of Flatheads going to be scrapped in OR - Go Get Em Boys!

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Bored&Stroked, Oct 24, 2021.

  1. Go get these- somebody local. Stayton [OR] Auto Wrecking is to be scrapped and 'cleaned up'. There is a good collection of Ford flatheads inside! and a few outside. The '51 Merc V8 is Sold, but I saw a '34 and a '35 complete w carbs inside and numerous 59A, 59AB, and 8BA's inside. Even a 337" Lincoln V8 inside, next to a '47 Cad V8 flathead! Bring a good flashlite- dark old buildings. Time is Rapidly running out for these engines. It would be the Second large scrapping of Flatheads that I have witnessed this yr locally. Newc

    Wow, small world!
I grew up with the son of the original owner of that yard in the early 60's.

222 miles from me but I already have more projects than I can handle.
The last satellite shot google maps shows look like there are just later model stuff from the 70's and later in the yard.

Super close for me, but I've never owned any flathead V8's and not sure what I'd do with one?

Yeh, I lived a mile from there, never got past the office though as I was only a kid.
Besides, there weren't any Schwinn Stingray parts there, that bike was my world before I discovered my first Hot Rod magazine.

I went by there this morning and talked to Dennis. He is not quite ready to sell out the Flatheads at low prices. He said he wanted to dig them out and see which ones turned over and which ones didn't turn over. He is going on a couple of hunting trips and won't get to them for a while. He said he's going to have an auction in February for the tools and equipment, but didn't say when the prices for the Flatheads would come down. He wouldn't tell me how much he wanted for each motor, so I gave him my number and told him I'd like to buy three or four of them if the price was right. Maybe he'll call, maybe not. We'll see.

Sounds like a pretty un-motivated seller. Any update?

No updates yet. He’s got a lot to take care of. I might swing by in a couple of weeks and check in on how things are going with him.

Call the guy at H&H Flatheads. I'm sure he needs a few more cores.
