Anybody have any ideas or information on how this was accomplished? HEI in a straight eight. Wondering which distributor is used and what modifications are necessary.
Any 8 cylinder G.M HEI that rotates the right way-cut off and grafted to the Buick distributor shaft. Of course there's some machine work onthe housing to insure that all fits in the block.
That's where I was headed. I have one that was done for a Nailhead. I guess I'll just pull one and start measuring.
I've heard Pontiacs are REAL close, so look there too. I haven't done it myself yet, but when I was talking to an MSD guru about igniting my S-8, he said it'd be easy to adapt their Pontiac distributor to fit it. I assume the HEI is similarly simple... ~Scotch~
I can do ya one up if needed. I would just need your old Buick unit for the drive gear and measurement, have tons of hei cores for a donor...
FS Ignitions is building me one for my 2.5 AMC 4 banger, using there dizzy made for Model A s with a S/State pick up and coil. Gets rid of all the sensors and Fuel injection. Goin in my 29 Rod Pk Up
