I plan on putting some 56 clipper tail lights in my Buick. I was wondering if anyone knows a sort of "direct" replacement for the rear bumper. Or can I just move the stock one down to clear the backup lights. Most I have seen with this mod run a two piece or what looks like a ford bumper. I wanna sort this stuff out before I start cutting.......thanks all!!!
I haven't started this project yet....trying to get all my ducks in a row.....then were gonna give it hell.
I don't think there was anything called a "Continental kit bumper"...basically it was the stock bumper moved reward via longer brackets...and a pan over the top to hide them... I've seen a variety of bumpers used with Packard taillights, from a '53-'55 Studebaker rear bumper to a '56 Chrysler...depends on how much work you want to do... R-
thanks all.......56 chevys look good.....I have seen a gold colored 54chev with packard tails and the 56 bumper.....looks great.....I may go that route.
Have any of you guys taken pictures of how you adapted the packard lights to the car? I coulda swore I saw a thread where somebody used round bar to attach the lights and then wrapped the sheet metal around that but I can't find that thread. Anyway pics would be rad to see.
