Buick Nailhead / Dynaflow driveshaft question:

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by DonMan, Feb 12, 2013.

  1. I have a 1953 Nailhead ( 322 ) with an automatic trans ( Dynaflow ). I am installing it into a `31 Ford Coupe with a GM rear-end. The donor car has a closed driveshaft.
Is there any way to modify the trans to use a regular driveshaft?
Or do I have to buy a trans adapter and run something like a Turbo 350 ?

    Thanks in advance.

after having a '55 with the dyna-slow... i would almost just go ahead and suggest getting a turbo 350... will do the nailhead much more justice with gearing!!... the dynaflow is a smooth transmission though... hardly ever knew when it shifted.

Go with a trans adapter, ditch the Dynaslow. Or buy my stick set-up. :)

If the dynaflow ever needs rebuilding, you'll wish you got a 350th.

Sell the dyna-sore to a Buick restorer.......go with the suggested 350.
