No, I'm not referring to some bar in the Castro- Thanks to the HAMB I managed to extract a couple of broken studs from an exhaust manifold I'm putting on my Chevy inline 6. Using the welded nut method, it took me 3 tries on each stud, but eventually those bastards gave in and came out. The night before I messed with various methods- using heat, bolt extractors etc. etc. I even tried the welded nut method but gave in after it didn't work the first time. I stewed on this for a day, re-read the many posts here on the subject, and went back to try again. Low and behold it really does work and my manifold is intact, thanks to the knowledgable folks of the HAMB.

  2. Very cool man, it sometimes takes a couple tries. We do it all the time at the shop. I want to try our new tig instead of my usual mig for that job. I'll post the results.

  3. I spent 6 hours one night trying to remove 3 broken studs from the undercarriage of a D9 bulldozer. I still have one in my toolbox to remind me what it takes to get a job done sometimes.

    Congrats!:D
