Picked up a box of 25 photos at an antique store today. They are all 8x10 of cars and a few boats. Most have the city and date on them. A few have the “PHOTOS BY” stamp on the back. All from the mid-seventies. I will try to scan them and post the rest. This car is from Omaha ‘75.
I had a few Andy gave me, all 8" X 10" glossies. Framed 'em, hung 'em on my shop's office wall. Kicker was, I had done some work on every one of 'em! Ex partner has them now, along with...most of my 'history'...
Great find. He was almost the first photographer I became aware of as a kid in the sixties. I met him about thirty years later at the Oakland Roadster Show and bought a number of his books.
More please! This has got to be the same car from your first photo, before the blower was added. (I suggest taking out the pre-65 car pix also) This was taken at first NSRA in Peoria, '70.
Great find of photos. I forgot how entertaining black and white photos can be. Thanks for posting....
Great photos and thank you for sharing. Is Andy still around? I have all his books and love his photos. He sure had an eye for the ladies, cheers
I don't know about that. The big guy in the background in post #11 looks a lot like I do today. I was in style back then, white Tee shirts and Levi's and I'm still in style today.
Andy Southard was from Long Island before he moved west. I was always impressed with his photographs. He had a nice 1956 Ford hardtop, and an equally nice 1926-27 Ford roadster pickup, when he lived on Long Island. His 2 cars were on the cover of Rodding and Restyling back in the day.
