Would hate to bonk my head off the glass in that A, but I guess it's a better outcome than what some of the people in the other photos would have suffered.

How'd you like to be in the cab of that pickup hanging out of the parkade/factory???

Wow great pictures! Its amazing how different an accident is treated today, than it was back in the day.

    Great pics!

  5. I'm not the least bit unhappy that vehicle safety has come as far as it has. I wonder how many of those were caused by brake failure or brake inadequacy?

  6. You're right Ryan... You can't help but be fascinated by pictures like this. I always wonder what the circumstances were that led up to the accident. Or what happened immediately after.

Wonder how fast that mailman was going?

  7. Well some things never change, In a car accident the big old bus or the big old tree will allways win. :(

I look at those pics and think...."all those folks are.... dead" and frozen in time.
Then I look at all the beautiful signage on the stores and shops in the Bg..... that sure don't look today.... sad.

"After sizing it up, Joe figured the body from the wrecked coupe would be a good candidate to swap onto the Lincoln V8 chassis he had stored in the old carriage house. Twenty bucks later, it was his; and on its way home to become the terror of greater Boston..." :D

so much going on in those photos. a certain fascination for me, because of my location. and i don't recognize the spots on sight, but it's likely i've traveled some of those same roads many times.

the ghosts of those who've gone before, frozen in time. photographs are amazing things.

When I was a kid the local Police station had accident photos displayed all around the front office. Really graphic photos of guys with their heads crushed under wheels, one of my next door neighbor dead, wrapped around a tree, etc.etc. Guess it was some sort of traffic safety thing...never forgot it.

I love the Mack Bull dog truck hanging out of the top floor after knocking half of the wall out with no apparent damage. They meant it when they said... "built like a Mack truck".

This one is at the corner of Charles and Mt. Vernon on Beacon Hill. Check out the pic below to see a Google Maps street view from today. Not much has changed. Pay attention to the designs on wrought iron balconies. They haven't changed in 80 yrs.

That's not Boston, that's clearly the Packard factory in Detroit.

The earlier picture must be 1957 or so, since there was still glass in the building.
