My buddy called me tonight looking for an id on a what he was told is a Super T-10 4 speed. He is planning on using it in his 59 Chevy 1/2 ton but he wants to make sure the guy that has it is not stuffing his boots. He is pretty new to any thing automotive as he just retired from the Army and has been out of touch for 30 years or so. He was not able to send me pictures but he did give me the number off the case, WB 1962. He says it is an aluminum case and has a 9 bolt curved bottom side cover which he removed and says it looks clean with no nasty gears showing. It is a fine spline on input and output shafts. I have tried to google with no luck. Any body have any input?

Richmond ended up taking over from B/W. Early T10 are cast iron case (Like Saginaw 4sd), later are alloy case. http://www.pontiacpower.org/BW.htm http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_cat...erhaul_kits/borg_warner_t10_overhaul_kit.html WB 1962
To me, the dividing line between the T10 and Super T10 was when B-W finally upgraded the syncros to address their popping-out-of-gear issue. The early units used straight-cut syncro teeth/sliders and if worn would pop out of gear under deceleration. They kept this design at least through '67 if not later. The 'improved' version featured back-cut syncro teeth and sliders that 'locked' together under load, eliminating the problem.
