Just found this thread. WOW. I dig dig dig it!

  5. I grew up in south Texas....never saw any bombs this nice.

Most of the lowrider stuff I saw growing up had almost no attention to detail and crappy engines. They'd lower a car, spray a bad paint job on (get overspray all over the rubber and some on the glass) then tack a bunch of JC Whitney stuff on them and call it a day.

It'll never be my style, but if I'd seen more stuff like the rides represented in this thread, my opinion of them would've been different.

Bombs and Lowriders of quality have been in Houston for a long time. I'm talking back as far as I know and that would be late 70's until today. Maybe you just ran into a couple of posers.

  8. By south Texas, I meant truly south Texas...the Rio Grande Valley....7 hours south of Houston by car.

  9. Thx Archangel, Truck Bombz are where it's at for me. My 53 powered 55 F100 is headed toward a cross between an old school custom metal mods, two tone flat N glossy, and bombastic! I've been collecting and storing vintage parts in the garage for a build out when I've saved enough cash to sub out some of the custom metal work I've planned. It'll be draggin my pasty white tail Nor Cal style in a full set of foxcaft skirts, a full compliment of Buick and Cadillac chrome, and a pair of Ford correct A pillar spots, under an OEM correct visor! Keep the inspiration coming! It's the dream that keeps me hanging on!

that is so tru,my 56 chevy was first a low rider, engine overcame suspension.had to change and make car (more street worthy)..bellflower blvd was the the best.had a GTO from alondra to artesia ...50$ a gear...red lights an all.the memorys are what it's all about,Iproboly hook up with you behind staggs ,been awile gunmetal grey 56 chevy 2dr postchevy W/americans.That was some of the best racing of the time crazy, then on to whitter blvd. there will never be those times again.I do however have another 56 sedandelivery.
for those that didn't live in so cal in the late 60's theres nothing to be to said...it was everything that's been said,It was that bad ass.I got 3exiption of speed tickets.350.00 a-piece,back then, got beat by a chick in a 454 70 chevlle////good race small blockV big block..thats waS ON dELAMO.i LOVE THIS THREAD
