I did not paint my wheels black Kelsey Hayes did way back in the 40's when they left the factory, and white walls would not be right for this project either
Keep this thread alive Just fitted new black powder coated steels to back fitted with firestone dirtracks. Waiting for my spider caps to come. Thanks Andy
Mine. My wheels are actually dark blue. I like how they look though I should try to run some sort of small center cap...
Killer pics! Nothing beats the classic look of black wheels on an old car. Especially a hot rod. It can make it look so sinister. Whether it be steelies, wires or wide 5's. They all rule!
Hey, when I get my chevy II going, they are gonna be body color. And that will probably be Ermine White. Or maybe Aztec Bronze. Or maybe Artesian Turquoise. or maybe Marina Blue. or maybe...
for the longest time I wanted an old truck with narrow black steel wheels. When I bought my '61 Suburban, that was one of the first things I did. Ran 'em for 5 years, and just put a set of vintage 5-slots on the truck when I lowered it. The 5-slots look cool on this truck, but when I get my '56 Chevy on the road, it's going to be red with black steelies and wide whites. It's really hard to beat the look of simple black wheels. -Brad
Cant beat the look of black wheels and White Whites (especially the bias kind) .Gives it a raw sinister look IMO .Heres mine on my 50 truck ...
I've always been a fan of red wheels, especially with full caps so just a ring of red shows. But while I was rotating the tires on my Packard today I decided to paint them a glossier satin black.... Looks so good I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place!!!!! I'm contemplating not putting my '55 Cad caps back on because the plain black wheel with the wide whites just looks right. Makes the whole car look cleaner and less busy. I'll post a pic later when I get one uploaded. Lots of kool cars in this thread!
Got new www's and went black before the caps and skirts go back on, not sure, but I kinda like how it looks right now.
