Depends on what youre after. Black works great if you have a nice intake, valve covers etc. Without all that the engine disapears in a black engine compartment. Sometimes thats perfect for a custom. Hoodless, Ive seen some nice builds with engine a few shades darked than body color. Maroon engine in a red car. Era plays into this. Its real easy to get street roddy with matching engine. Ive been thinking about a late 50's or early 60's era build, stock appearing engine down to coatings brackets springs etc, like the guy had a built car and yanked an engine from a wrecked "late model" Clean install with era correct stuff looks great everytime, regardless of color
