Just curious as to how much difference there should be in overall tire diameter to have the "right" look and stance. Gonna go with a 155/80-15 on the front which is 24.7 " tall, how much taller should the rear be for the right look on a fenderless roadster P/U ?
My fronts are 195/50-15 (24.5) and my rears are 285/70-15 (30.5). Look at the pictures and see if you like the setup for your purpose.
Mine are front 5.00 16s in front and 7.00 18s in the rear. I belive if you go with a 15 then the rears. rear could be 235-75-15s fronts 165 R 15s gives it a nice stance. Look at my coupe and then look at the roadster both have the perfect stance Roadster is the one on 18s in the rear and 16 in front.
I am looking at running a 5.00 16 front (about 25") and about a 31" tall rear. that give a 3" rubber rake.
i am running the set-up talked about . 6.00x16 fronts ... 7.50x16 (31"tall) firestone bias ............. steve
To me, tire size depends on and relates to how a car sits and (at least on an early fenderless car) how big or small components like headlights are.
I don't know about radial sizes but for a bias, I would never go bigger than a 5.00/5.25 on the front and never smaller than a 7.00 on the back.
I'm leaning towards BFG radial T/As in 155/80-15 (24.7") and on the rear 255/70-15 (29.1") Seems like that might work.
My tires are 5.50 x 15 Firestone ribs in the front, 24.5 dia and 8.20 x 18 Firestone dirt track in the back, 33 inch dia. Rex
I went ahead and got the T/A s because they were readily available here locally and I think they will look and perform good. BFG Radial T/A 155/80-15 front on 15x5 Wheel Vintiques Smoothies, and 255/70-15 rear on WV 15x8. I have 41 Ford caps and smooth trim rings for them. So now I have rolling stock !! <!-- / message --><!-- attachments -->
