I am building a 1956 Olds 324. Find plenty of people saying to plug the oil hole. I have the solid chevy lifters already, and a Solid flat tappet cam for the Olds. Also will be running Isky adjustable rockers.

How do I plug the oil hole on the lifter?

    Thanks in Advance,
    Jonathan

No One? This is the last step and I can get this motor running.
    HELP!

  5. Well Tony knows his stuff on the Olds motors. I wouldn't want him to build a Ford for me but he nows Olds motors inside and out.

I suppose that if I was absolutly sure that I wanted to plug the holes I would fill it with brass, or silfoss.

If you still want to plug it anyway, brazing rod works well.

If you heat the lifter hot enough for the brass to melt, won't it effect the heat treatment of the lifter. Why do you feel the need to plug the lifter? Solid push rods will limit the amount of oil coming out of the lifter.

You don't actually braze the lifter, you cut off a short piece of the proper diameter rod and stake it in the hole.
