Do not have a photo but Georgia Tech. built one in the late 50 or early 60s driven by Hoyt Grimes it had a Cad power plant and looked like a abortion no cowl over engine and other things that did flow in the design. I was a kid when I saw it and I think it was Dallas or Yellow river drag way in Ga.
That white owl is way cool. I'm just wondering if there were any traditional tanks set up to drag race? I have a drag strip a hell of a lot closer than a salt flat to me.
Not too many went drag racing. Here's one from the '57 Nationals: From the 1950 Drag Race @ MCAF Tustin thread: "In 1950, SCTA And The American Motorcycle Association Hosted A Hot Rod Versus Bike Exposition At The Then Decommissioned Navy Blimp Base. And That’s Bob Ward Posting Top Speed For The Event (120.96) In Earl Evans’ Tank." per HotRod.com Al Drake's Portland Pictorial shows a short-lived tank @ the Scappoose Drags: In 1953, Autosport magazine (UK) reported on a belly tank car built by two US servicemen at USAF Burtonwood, but I haven't been able to find any pictures.
