i was in nos gas i hope i was not one of the posers
Had a great time, just forgot to take pictures!
Thank you Phil! We had a blast and will go next year. They just need to stand by their rules with the Nostalgia Gas class. Certain cars were allowed that should have been in the Hot Rod class.
I think I've been down this road before...locally.
You should be well aware that complaints of cars that actually don't belong in a class per the rules fall on extremely deaf ears. Especially if there are friends running the show or you're an outsider.
But hey, maybe the car you're complaining about appeared to fit the class.
what cars are you guys talking about?
Duce your fine. In general terms the cars I'm talking about are slammed on the ground, tubbed, big tire, tube chassis cars, roadsters, etc. These are NOT nostalgia gassers. What really pissed me off is the event was THE GASSER REUNION and the headliner race had many cars which did not belong. No body had to go home, these cars could have run H/R. I guess greed and egos took over (H/R-$500 to win, N/G-$1000 to win). Also, what a sorry ass move by the English Brothers.
This is exactly why we created the Meltdown Drags. We got sick of the same thing at our local tracks. So instead of going to their event, we made our own.
This is our Criteria taken from the website:
This is NOT just another Drag Racing Event
.we are looking to relive / re-create a 60′s Drag Meet
..so that means, if your car is old, but has many modern components making it look from the 80′s, 90′s or newer, then please join us as a spectator.
If you can make some minor changes to your car to make it fit the criteria
.we appreciate it !!
Remember, 51 weeks out of the year you can race your car with the rest of the drag racing crowd, at any track full of modern cars. For this one weekend you will be surrounded with really cool people, racing really cool, period correct cars. Knowing that, is having period correct wheels asking to much?
No whinning, no crying, just VINTAGE racing.
Also note, no payouts. Money ruins everything.
This guy gets my vote for President of the NDRL (Nostalgia Drag Racing League)
Too bad there isn't such a thing, but there should be.
well glad to know i was not the trouble maker, here;s a good one, when i was teched in he put me in hr class. i asked is the ng class for the east coast gassers as i know they have there own class.he said no its for gassers,i said well i consider this a gasser.he said i guess,my response it has a straight axle, radiused wheelwells, period wheels red windows, vintage stickers ,fenderwell headers and a name painted on it.my thought is do these tech guys know and understand the rules.and if they are not passionate about a special race like this then they should have someone that is to help them in putting the cars in the right class.
All the stuff that goes on that us specters don't see.
I misted a lot of the racing. Spent most of the time in the pits
I did see all the finals on Sat.
A big thanks to all the guys for putting up with all the BS
And putting on a great show.
It sounds like its the same old same old at most tracks
It's unfortunate but you are right.
It seems like where ever old cars and money are involved, egos and drama follow!
Duece, if you want to race with a group like the East Coast Gassers you should join our club. Your car fits right in and would be a welcome addition to the gang. You don't have to make every race but you'd be right in for the races we run at Beaver Springs, I know I see your car at all 3 of them.
