Wow. Thats a piece of history.

I bet if everone of us on here pulled all our money together we still couldn't afford that car.

I bid on it. My dream didn't last long, though.

Man, that poor car has changed hands more than any Barris car around I would bet.

It was in Dallas for a few years I think...I even remember a mag story about a guy owning it that had a bunch of famous kustoms and even he mentioned that this car would be the first to go in the article.

I hope somebody who loves it gets it!

Nope, Kurt after Barry David who also is hard core and has had a few good ones. Walker never had any real Barris cars, but he has a real Herb Gary car.Just as cool!!Not to mention Dug Thompson mobiles.

Somebody should tell the seller that his '59 Impala steering wheel has been stolen.

I wish I had the money..
    Custom Gasserville!!!
I'd put fender well headers on it, with slicks in back in the radiused wheel wells and a chrome beam axle up front on high riding parallel leaf springs.
gut the interior and put just one bucket seat in it with a Moon tank in the grill, and lose the front bumper...

After all, If I owned it I could do what I like with it, right?

Hope it goes to a good home.

Cool to finally see such good pics of it. That interior is really something.

Me, too. That has always been one of my favorite customs. I drooled over it way back in 1960 when I first saw it and I still do. Nice simple lines ,not too much "garbage".Cool car. Wish it were mine.

kurt had that car for a long time, sold to another local guy, who traded it to walker (i think). the car that guy got in trade was way more...."Kustomized", and while that '55 isn't one of my favorite barris cars, it was a lot cooler than the one he got. mf

if i'm not 100% on this, please, feel free to correct me:p

I knew Kurt owned it but thought from there it went to Jack. I hope he's at cobo next weekend. If he's there I will find out. They are both really cool guys!!
I didn't realize Barry had it too, we knew its changed hands a lot. and we've seen it all over!!

Really? Which one? Not the Oriental? I have always wondered what happened to that one.

I talked to Barry David today, he said he sure would like to have that car back...he said he, and his wife, loved that car! Gave him the ebay address so he could check it yet...

Several years ago i heard the Oriental is stored in the original owner's garage in New Jersey in poor condition. I can't confirm that. I loved that car when it was black but after they painted it candy gold and ran nerf bars down the sides of the car it got too gaudy for my tastes :( at least. I live in Glen Cove about 5/8 of a mile from Gary's shop in Sea Cliff. I used to ride my bike up to the shop and Gary would chase me away, he was afraid i was going to scratch one of the cars. Can't say that i blame him, i was only a jerky kid then, i'm 58 now. ~ John Buchtenkirch

  18. Uh did anyone save a picture?

  19. I don't recall Jack owning a 55 in the last 10 or so years.

I think it was the Jim Seaton 55 Chevy.
