Howdy HAMB, I've got another question on vintage AC. I am replacing the AC hose on my 1965 Pontiac with barrier hose as part of my R134a conversion, and while most of the system I can use bead-lock crimp connectors, there is one point in which I cannot, which is the output side of the car's suction throttling valve. It is the only location in which I have to use the original barb, as I do not know how to make a connection. I was wondering what is the best way to slip barrier hose over hose barbs? The hose is INCREDIBLY tight over the barb and I cannot really get it over the first barb. I have sanded down the hose barb end so that it has a better ramp to get on, but I was wondering if anyone had any better ideas? Best Regards.
Lubricate it with some compatible compressor oil and make sure the hose is warm and flexible. Thats the best advice I have.
