The car seller sure does have quite a few watchers on each car. least amount of watchers are on the lincoln with 102 watching and the most is the 31 model a with 193 watchers.

I just wonder how many are just us nosey Hambers to see if and how much he profits.

I didn't make it down there because of list minute things that came up here. I've never dealt with this auction Co. before. i heard they were well organized, pretty fast paced and friendly. what i want to know is, how was security? I'm talking about did they check your items when you picked them up? or was it basicly your own responsibility to keep track of your things?

Why i'm asking, i was registered as an internet bidder and wasn't sure about the security of bidding on the smaller items with this company. most other onlinje auctions i've bid through, i just show up with my internet receipt saying i paid and they got the item from a secured area.

Thanks for any input on this. i'm thinking about adding them to my internet auction sites to bid with if they have some type of security in play.

  2. After I paid for my items I was escorted into the building and had my lot numbers on the receipt checked to match the items that were mine. Escorted out and on my way. All by very polite people. The auction was professionally done, if a mistake was made on the bidding they would not take any chance & just start over.
They may have lost some money by bidding in large increments instead of taking smaller ones when the number got high. But they had to move fast to get it all in.
I would go to another American Auction again.

my thought exactly. hundreds of new iron cars back on the road.

looking thru the final sales stuff http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/all-lots.cfm?SaleCode=LH11 looks like the cars were well priced. but those motorcycles??? wtf i must be missing something. must have been 2 mil in motorcycles.

The man passed on my birthday ,,crazy!
I prefer the preservationist nomenclature due to the relative organization of all he saved.
He definately walked the line of hoarding seeing he would never get back to all of it !
But sure can appreciate the fact that its not dirt bagedly crammed with no care inside the facilities. Hope all of it finds the right homes in true preservationist fashion!
    Thanks for sharing !
Sure is sweet to be able to see !

1st of all, you would've to tour this huge metal building in person to view everything that Lee collected.UNBELIEVABLE !!!! Videos do not show his whole
collection. To see what he looked like toward the end of his life was scary.
The man lived on this property with NO RUNNING WATER OR HEAT, just electricity, for many, many years.

Not a hoarder, he was a collector. I've known hoarders that would make the Discovery Channel folks cry. This isn't even close. This collection is massive, but has some order. Best of luck to all those that can make the auction.

Right, words mean things. "Hoarding" always had a negative connotation to my ears. It should. It means someone unreasonably accumulating something in limited supply, that other people also need, and depriving them of it. Some old cat lady with a bunch of magazines and newspapers piled up to the rafters doesn't really qualify either. And these folks aren't depriving anyone of anything particularly either. Get your own junk, if you want.

As I get older,(64) I am now retired and have more time and a little more money to go to more auctions, swap meets, flea markets and yard sales than ever. With that comes more cars, car parts, hubcaps( already have over 10,000) and other stuff I like and my garage and buildings look like this guys. I had an auction in 2003 but you could never tell it. I am starting to sell some stuff so my kids won't be faced with such a mess when I kick off but there is no way I could ever get everything sold off, and I don't really want to get rid of all of it. I hope I still have a bunch of good years left but I tell my wife and kids that when I die to play "Rednecks,White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer" by Johnny Russel at my wake and have a hell of a party then get all my junk together and have a bodatious auction!

Not to long ago(last month or two) I saw the double grilled Zephyr on a Barry Weiss tv show in the background. It was a show about him talking about behind the scenes of the storage wars shows I believe.

  24. The fun is in the HUNT as long as people are having fun and only spending money that's put aside for their hobby that's not hoarding Some have more to spend then others that's OK TOO Who doesn't have fun at a junk yard buying something you don't need but it's just cool Sure we can't take it with us But we can in joy each day. I don't judge others just say N

You wouldn't recognize Lee's property today - there's a large Hindu temple nearing completion on it.
