I have a '64 New Yorker and have installed a P-system. They suggest bypassing the ballast resistor. What is the best way to go about doing that?

what is a P system? I would think there are several ways to bypass the resistor but I prefer to join the ends of the wires and tape over in case I need to reconnect the resistor

Disconnect the wires on each side of the ballast and stick them together.
