Backspacing determines if the rim is a Deep dish? I am looking for 15X6 chrome smoothies but I do not want a deep dish. Like whats shown in the pic...Would i want a smaller backspacing?
cavistyle, For a given rim width, the smaller the backspace, the deeper the front dish. Make sense? Mike
Only if you have enough clearence. The back space is a measurment of the distance of the rim to the mounting point on the hub. There is only so much clearence between the side wall of the tire and thing like tie rod ends, and rear springs other suspension bits. You can probably only push the stock back space by an inch or so depending on your tire profile. To measure put a straight edge across the rear rim of the wheel, then measure down to the wheel center where it would attach to the hub. Don't confuse backspace with offset.
