Next year they are moving it slightly to get more rooms available for the racers. Racing will start on Monday the 18th of August.
JB, Thanks for the updates on the real cars.. Not many people seem to be interested in 4 bangers and/or the roots of Hot Rods etc. I'm kinda particle to those rattlers myself... moe
damnit. guess i wont be going. school starts that week. my bday is the 18th....would make for a DAMN GOOD birthday to be on the flats.
donnie, we raced the first day and did 104 with a busted shaft in our water pump. We only got timed in between the first and second mile. When you race for a record you have to back up your first run then they average out the two speeds and that is the record. (So if we went 100mph in the first run and 200 on the second the record would average out to 150mph) We had four hours to fix our car and race first thing in the morning. We could only get timed in between the 1 and 2 mile again so we backed our first speed up with a 106 and sealed our record in the books forever. Its a amazing feeling to do something no one has ever done before. Bobby, Drew and I have put alot of time and years to make it happen. We accomplished what we intended to do and it feels great......

Hooley spun this morning on his back up run, after a record run yesterday, at the 4 mile mark running about 220 MPH. He is fine and the car is okay. It was much like the spin last year. They are taking the car to have it checked by the tech people and then they will load it on the trailer and come home. From what information that I have gathered it seems that the race course went away as the week went on. He said that it was difficult yesterday and today it must have been worse. He thought he might have caught a rut that started the spin but it is difficult to say. I am proud of them and all their work through this difficult meet. The car did well for the conditions and they went faster than it has ever run. It is now time to start planning for next year. John
