B&M Hydro question

I have one of these trans and never used one, this is a 4 speed hydro......do you have to manually shift these or do they shift like an automatic on there own, any insight on how they feel and work would be appreciated.

i lovehydros.they shift automatically,but you can run'em through the gears too,if you wanna do some modifications.start here www.rodnkustom.com/rocketeers/hydramatic/index.html the most important thing though,is making sure you have the linkage and bands adjusted correctly-george
