AV8 Flathead rad ???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wideglide74, Mar 3, 2008.

  1. I am dealing with Walker on a rad for my AV8 project. They say I need a 3in short deuce rad and my tape measure says 2in shorter. I am running a 59A with a generator mounted fan, deuce shell and a hood. Any suggestions on what you've used? Thanks...

You didn't mention which cowl you have ie 28/29 or 30/31. I have a 2 inch shorter version for a 28/29 that came from JAMCO but I'm not sure if they are still making them since Jim died.

Be careful that you don't run uphill from cowl to radiator shell.

I have a 31 A Coupe and tried to talk with Walker/Griffin but keep getting the run around, so I talked to Gary at Portell's Radiator

    http://www.portellradiator.com/default.php

I told him I had an AV8 with 32 shell and hood and needed a bottom tank for my C4 trans and within 3 weeks I had my radiator....................and it fit perfectly. He told me exactly how much it was going to be and how before I would have it.............and it arrived the day he said it would.........................................I think the slope of the hood looks pretty good
    for first mock-up.
If you want me to measure mine just let me know.

I bought a Walker for my '30 with a 40 merc. I just ordered up a rad to fit a deuce shell and flathead with no auto trans. The rad they sent fit like a glove (unlike the VERY expensive Griffin I bought for my 36 pick-up).
