Av8/F1 steering conversion

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wideglide74, Oct 29, 2004.

  1. I took my F1 box and model A snout to the machine shop yesterday to have the ends trimmed off of each and chamfered on the lathe. My question involves the oil seal that the F1 uses but is absent on the A snout. I plan to have a groove machined into the A snout so as to accept the F1 style oil seal. Any comments? I don't want oil seeping out and making a mess (I know it probably will anyway)...

  2. This is the oil seal groove in the factory F1 part that I'm having machined off...

  3. This is the stock A snout that I plan to weld to the F1 after it's machined down. I plan to have the same oil seal groove machined in this part? Thanks...

  5. Thanks. I was just at the shop and he's working on it as I type this... The guy is great he has a machine shop in his home and does mostly marine work but he's a hot rodder and enjoys auto related work which usually takes priority over bilge pumps...
