Event Coverage Australia: Black Forest Drive 3.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PEDDRO, Mar 23, 2013.

  1. Today, three of us hosted the third Black Forest Drive. I won't give away much of the details except to say we had over 30 genuine hot rods and close to 60 ace people circulating some of Victoria's finest (and crappiest) back roads on a pretty awesome Autumn day. We started, we drove, we stopped, we ate, we broke stuff and then went home.

Thanks to all the guys and girls that came and made it another ace day.

    Here's some pics.

  3. Just as a side note, this drive is never advertised, it's not sponsored, it's not "sanctioned" and it doesn't cost anyone any more than they need it to.

It's strictly an invitational and that's the way it will stay. Only 3 people know when it will be run each year (and it's not strictly a once a year thing) or where it will be run and finish. It's all about the right people and the right cars.

For me, I hope everyone on the run had a great time and went away confident that this is the way hotrodding needs to be to survive....away from the clueless poodle-skirt rockabilly pin-up bullshit circus it's become.

Just had to look up 'sandgroper' - that's an ugly mofo! Where is the 'Land of the Sandgroper'?

    Big thanks to all.

Peddro outdid himself on the poster this year, I really liked last years too, but this years really had the feel of the run. The other side is the map and written directions for the run.

Big thanks to Katie, Dave's wife who went and got the sausages and I take it got the rest of the condiments together too, and Jimmy for cutting up the Onions he was still suffering when I saw him.

I think traditional hot rodders in Victoria can be pretty happy that there are a few good events on the calander now for us to attend.

great people , great cars, great food , great day.

    I had a blast.

here are a few photos. Peddro took most of them, we took turns driving my roadster which I also really enjoyed. Sometimes its nice to be a passenger and take it all in.

my old regret is that I decided not to take my SLR camera but the point and shoot, which doesn't focus as quick as I would like, I wanted to enjoy this run as I reckon the route was a great driving route so I sat back and took in the countryside that changed quite a few times and cars both in front and behind.

Also pretty special that I my dad 'swifty' was also on the run in his coupe and he bought his T bucket down to the finish spot which was cool.

Hey Corey were the blurry pics going through the forest due to speed or the corrugations?

Many thanks to you Dave and Wayne for putting on a great hot rod day, couldn't get any better.

Hey Rhys wish I'd known of your situation as we could have stored your car in my mother-in-laws backyard- it's just over the rail line from where we had lunch. She's blind so she wouldn't even see it there LOL.

  25. I'd also like to thank Dave, Wayne and Corey for putting this run on.
The boys from Ballarat always have a good time and look forward to every run even if it's just to prove that Flattys are more than just beautiful engines.

Here's a couple of my pics.
Some of the cars at the start and its good to see fuel has gone down in price.
