Ok, I'm sure I already know the answer to this but...

Fuel line in relationship to ballast res. I'm just asking for trouble, right?[IMG]

  2. i wouldn't put a fuel line fitting right above something that gets hot...what if it started to drip?

Yeah, mine too. Gotta find a safer place for the resistor.

The resistor generates its own heat, I wouldn't mount it on a hot engine!

When you do find a new place to mount it, make sure the wires aren't touching the porcelain.

FIRE!!!. Looks as if it a real cool car. you have done a great job on it. you can eliminate some wiring if you want. there is a ONE WIRE alternator you can install. But the braded wire insulation looks great on your ride. something to think about.

Lead wire is so close to the fitting it looks like it could arc to it ,is there a reason why its parked there? I mean really, thats scary shit right there.

  10. Extend the solid line, then install a 90 degree elbow so the flexible line can go straight in-or move the resistor. Have a look at early beetles where they mounted the fuel filter above the distributor- and see how many engine fires this caused!

The wires are just loosey goosey in that pic. It's mounted on a little plate that comes off the breather offset I made. I know it gets hella hot and there's not a lot of places to mount it.

Wirewound resistors need to dissipate a lot of heat, without taking the obvious fire risk into account it's probably not a good location simply due to engine heat. The firewall would be traditional no?

Looks to me like the fuel line is forward of the resistor.....not sure that would be a problem.
