I found a few parts locally but they have been plated so I'm kind of waffling. I'm talking Stomberg carb bodies here. Of course HIS opinion is a bit biased.
Sometimes sealing can be an issue, and any threaded portions of the carb that got chromed will need to be chased with a tap...but I've used chrome Holley parts with good results before. The quality of the part BEFORE it got chromed is the key issue...a warped piece covered in pretty chrome is just a glitzy ornament! Check any sealing surfaces for squareness and examine the part(s) closely to inspect for flaws beneath the brightwork!!
if it was done right they should be ok, i would want to inspect them with my own eyes if i were you. when i had my first batch of chrome done, i was kind of suprised to find that all it takes to mask off portions for the chrome is plain old electrical tape! yes, think of the possibilities if you put your own quality labor int maskin parts what kind of cool shit you could do!
It may look like electrical tape, I can assure you it's not. Masking tape for chrome is acid and tempurature resistant, and sticks to itself. Electrical tape would just float off. Shame though, it'd be a cheap option.
Depends totally on how good the chrome shops prep was. Could be no problem, could be a pain in the butt. Watch for bad seals of course and cracking around threaded holes. If they are all good, go with it.
