What size tires are you running? Got any pictures?

Trying to figure out what size I'll need for mine. Just picked up some 15"x6"s. I have 15x7's now with a 235/50/15 and want to go taller and slightly narrower. 225/60/15?? They're going under the fenders of a '64 Cutlass.

More concerned about the fronts fitting because I want to lower the car about 2" all around which necesitates narrower tires. The size I have now would rub severely. Would have gotten 14s but they don't clear the disc brakes up front.

    Help?

The Invicta runs 15x6 wheels with 2" backspacing... tires are 235/75-15 I believe... can verify if needed.

UNFORTUNATELY YOUR GONNA WANT TO GET SOME RUNNERS. JUNK TINY TIRES. MOST TIRE SHOPS WILL SELL YOU A COUPLE TAKE OFF REAL CHEAP, IF YOU FIND A GEAR HEAD, TELL HIM WHAT ITS FOR AND YOU MIGHT GET THEM FOR FREE. THEN LOWER IT AND MEASURE HOW MUCH ROOM YOU HAVE STRAIGHT HORIZONTALLY OFF TREAD CORNER AND THEN PERPENDICULAR. THEN GO TO A TIRE SIGHT LIKE BFGOODRICH.COM AND LOOK UP THE TIRE SIZE YOU HAVE ON. THEY WILL GIVE YOU HEIGHT AND WIDTH SPEC ON THE EXISTING TIRE SO YOU CAN CALCULATE THE NEW SPECS. THEN GO BACK TO THE SIGHT AND FIND THE TIRE SIZE WITHIN THE SPECS YOU NEED.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS, EMAIL ME AT [email protected] WITH YOUR SIZE AND SPACE LEFT AND I'LL EMAIL YOU RIGHT BACK.
GOOD LUCK WITH THE RUBBER [IMG]

i'm running 205/70/15s on astro supremes under my 60 catalina. they fill up the fender well pretty good, but don't rub. (car has been lowered about 2-3 inches.

i may run into problems when it gets bagged in a few weeks. i may end up having to drop to 14 inchers for clearance issues.

I would be looking at a 205-75 or at most a 215-75 for that car.

Any bigger and you may, (probably will) have interference on turns with it lowered too!

A '64 Cutlass is one of my favorite looking cars by the way... I like the trim and tail lights better than the '65
But it has crisp, almost, excuse the reference, "dainty" styling and big tires on it starts looking like it has "mud boggers". Like a four wheel drive chassis under a Model A
'80s Caddy Eldorados run 205s and they fill their huge wheel openings just fine.

60 Buick with original 15x7 rims, and 235/75R15 thin whites. Fronts rub on the inner fenderwells a tiny bit when I crank the wheel all the way to the left or right. Car has been lowered at least 4 or 5 inches.

Going to buy 15x7 Astro Supremes and run 215/70's when I get the $$$ saved.

Why don't you run 220's like the lowriders do!!! They look smooth, not much tread in'em though, but you can shave the whitewall as fat as you wan't!! 235/75x15 work great also, my brother uses them in his LOWRIDER, those have tread and you can shave the whitewall, a guy down here does it 5.00 a tire, and it looks great..

From memory, we had a set of high offset Chevy Chromed wheels made that were 15x8. The tires are Radial BFG T/As that have had the sidewall cut. IIRC they were 245/65/15 - sorta low profile if you're going for an accurate to the '60s protrayal, but this was destined to be a high milage daily driver in Houston (bad bad roads).

It's either "If I remember correctly" or "I'm into rectal carnality", dependent upon which message board you're on. [IMG]

Thanks for your input guys...think I'll try something around a 225/70 and see how it looks.

  14. 225s are gonna be a little wide for a little cutlass. I'd go with a 205/70 or maybe even a 195/70 for the front. These are 205s on 6" rims on my coupe..

i'm gonna agree with 205/70/15. thats what i'm running on the supremes on the buick and have no problems. have been trying to find a smaller skinny white for the '55 plymouth but am finding if you go much smaller they are usually specialty tires and not kept in stock. found that Lee Tires makes a 195/65/15 skinny white which is what i would like since it would give just a little more clearance, but haven't found a local dealer for 'em yet??? alot of the people i know with buicks, olds, etc all run 205/70s. wide enough you get good meat on the ground skinny enough you get the clearance 90% of the time. i've been running coopers on the buick for the last few years. seem to be holding up better than other stuff i've ran and cheaper than most. probably what i'll put on the plymouth to. hope this helps. oh yeah i think if you get your local tire guy to look up what should be on that car he'll tell you 205s...ken....
