Hi Folks, This Mercury was imported from the States to the Netherlands around 1990. It was owned by my neighbour. After he moved, I never saw the car again. Till yesterday, I found it at a bodyshop close to where I live. Does anyone recognice the car, maybe by it's pinstripes? The chassis and the drivetrain are white with some striping. The interior was red, and it has a '50/51 dash. In '90 it had a Corvette engine. Does anyone know some history, or has pictures. The current owner is busy with a complete make-over, gold, flames, flakes, skulls, supercharged Hemi and billet stuff.......yeb... A custombook by Mike Key, and this car started my interest in custom cars 23 years ago.... Just curious if there's something out there about this great ride. Thanks! Ruben
That's a very nice Merc Ruben ! I have never seen it in Holland before. When i bought my 51 Buick in 1990, the guy (Will Schipper) sold a 49 or 50 coupe before, maybe it is the same car. For sure it's a beauty. I had a 49 Merc coupe in the late 90's that i sold to Errol (from the Scrapers) in Rotterdam in i think 1999 or 2000 and i heard he also have sold it. Groeten Hennie
Bubble skirts would most probably place it as an East Coast build. Is there an artist signature on the pin striping-that would nail it down regionally. Is that front pan fiberglass... Painted bumpers and tailights set in bumper set it apart-yuck. Sorry it will get billet but glad to see the 'up periscope' dummy spots go.
