Nice! I like this model a lot. I built models when I was younger but I never built a 1/8 scale.

Try it! You'll love it...
You could still find the Revell-Monogram "BiG TuB" T kit at your local hobby shop.. It's an old repop from the 1963 kit... :)
I have that one in my stash also... ;)

Models are cool, I have a large collection of 1/18 though.

  16. This George Zurowski 1/8 Scale 1932 Ford 5W will be black full-fendered and flathead-powered with chrome rims and baby moons. Interior would need to be scratch built. Not a big deal. Will eventually place this Coupe in a 1/8 scale garage with a Highboy Roadster and T Bucket.

I chopped one of George's 5 window's to look like the milner car and sent it back to him to cast it. Chopped the grill/shell, bobbed the rear fenders, made a man-a-fre out of the 6x2 intake. I got all the masters back plus resin pops, except the 5w body. He passed on shortly after.

Not much into 1:8 scale stuff myself (I'm working up to it), but really into 1:25. I CAN vouch for the quality of Jim's parts, though.

Thought I'd bump this thread, as I've become interested in the 1:8 scale.
Since retiring, the ole budget won't allow for another 1:1 build, so I'm planning a miniature 1:8 project in metal instead.

Curious if there are any large scale scratch builders reading this page.

Been researching using aluminum vs brass, as scrap alum is everywhere for the taking, as well as being lighter & stronger.
I've come up with enough free 1/16 thick material to do a 32 frame that I've drawn up in 1:8.

From what I've read, the main problem with using alum is difficulty in soldering.
I've found a product by Muggy weld, called super alloy 1 that melts at 350 deg & has a tensile strength of 20,000 psi.
Going to get the starter kit & see how it works.
