Only functional one I have ever seen was actually a flat head 30's something straight 8 Chrysler in a streamliner @ Bonneville. Goodguys entry, I think. It was the 48th running of speed week if memory serves. The next year it came back a bit wider in the rear with a 528 Crate Hemi and Mopar Performance graphics all over it. If I am not mistaken it blew the record with the 528 Hemi by something like 30 mph. Took off nearly without a push too - unusual for a 'liner. Gotta love TORQUE !!!
3 or 4 on inliners that drive on the street, several in progress with JY turbos as well, but that's OT here. There's a supercharged nitro burning Jimmy in a roadster that runs Bonneville, cam is so wild you can't even tell it's a 6, till it gets a load on it.
A friend of mine has a 261 Chevy 6 with a roots type blower on it in his '56 pickup. Runs good and sounds EVIL! Will try to get some pics.
Eaton M90 with Holley 500cfm carb on my -50 Fleetline. 250cid/th350 Installed this year, and sorted out trough the summer. Quite functional...
Awesome! keep'm coming folks! I actually have been thinking about tossing an old B&M 142 on on a Ford 2.3. That long shaft lines right up with the pulleys. Talked Esslinger and they said they would love to build a drive gear that mounts right on the timing gear.
Cutaway beat me too it, but here is the original "blown" Inliner... How about a Ford 300 with what looks like an Eaton blower. Or a Flathead 6...
there's a member on here that used to race a FED with a blown slant 6 at the reunion in Bowling Green
Sweet. My teenage son has a fabricated a Supercoupe blower on a 250. Hope to have it installed by early spring.
Lets see your sons 250 ! I just found a blower off an olds v6 .I might have to fit it to the dodge 230 Iam putting together. hummm.
This pic is of my former boss's (Doug Robinson) Model A coupe Bonneville car with a supercharged stroked Jimmy 6. This car has gone over 200mph @ Bonneville! You can see the inlet of the blower through the grill scoop.
Ya, I no the BMR car, it set many records. There roadster is over the top too, it was almost the first roadster to go over 300 mph. sbakar ,Is that a chevy 4 cly ?
my slant six. still have some tuning to do. starts running lean if you put your foot in it, even with that 600 holley.
Don't confuse carb CFM capacity with the ability to meter fuel and control A/F ratio. The 600 may very well be enough carb for that engine - maybe even too much. More likely the answer will lie in jetting, power valve and air bleed sizing. That, of course, is assuming the cylinder-to-cylinder A/F ratio spread is not large and fuel delivery is adequate.. Good luck with your tuning.
Here is a 300 Ford six hogged out to 312 CI with a shift point of 9,000 RPM's. Tough customer and is very fast. Normbc9
