gosh, you know I was on the HAMB a few years ago and i remember when people started getting mean...but jeez, this is a little ridiculous...

what's wrong with wanting to read about car shows, picking up a good car fix tip here and there, and maybe even looking for some leads on good cars..?

    Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

It's just really stupid when newbies can't follow incredibly simple rules....

You've said nothing impressive so far - what do you expect?

give me a break...i've got nothing impressive in this new life i am trying to get back...all right?

i had a Buick...because i spent all my money on my ex-husband's project, my car stayed exactly the way i got it...in fleeing from the said ex, my original 65 radiator bit the bullet in Mesquite, NV (if anyone is out that way, how about hatching a plan to bust it out of the lot?)

there's not much more to me than that...yet...i would post a pic in my profile, but when i did that on my Yahoo! profile, some weirdo started IMing me...but then, there's no weirdos here yea?

so...being a chick...just know this in advance, i may ask a stupid question here or there, or sometimes type w/o checking what i wrote cuz i am trying not to let my boss see me "messin' around," but for the most part, i want to learn from all the people out there with experience so that i so i can work on my own car...one of these days...

all right...the truth is...i HATE talking 'bout myself...

ha, ha, ha...yea, that was her middle name....

but BTW: can you tell me why the Buick Electra 225 was a 225 if the engine wasn't? stupid question, yea, i know...

Why do you think I'm giving you crap? You asked a question of me, and I answered the best I could.

Maybe it's 22½ feet long?

See, and you didn't even notice that I was giving you crap when I was. Your car has a 126" wheelbase. I doubt there is twelve feet of car outside of that.

We're going to have fun with you, I can already tell.

oh golly, great...so at least my memory about the car being about 6 to 6-1/2 ft. long is right?

i'm just gonna love it here, aren't i?

Maybe for the same reason that a '65 Mustang Shelby was named a GT 350. It didn't have a 350" in it; it had a hot 289".

Like the rest of life, sometimes there's just no logic to this stuff.

Oh, yeah, welcome to the HAMB. Kinky6.

    thanks for the welcome...:D

yea, that one threw me when i first got the car...the engine was actually like a 425 (the ex told me it was a 416, i don't even think Buick had that specification), but everytime i called auto parts stores, or took it in to get the brakes looked at, i got the "oh, so the engine is a 225?"

can you imagine what a 225" would look like in a car that size? kinda like a AA cup in a DD...for those of you that know what i mean

GT350s got their name because the line where engines were modified was "about 350 feet" from the final assembly line. And Carroll Shelby thought that number sounded good behind "GT." When the big block cars came along, they needed to have a name that reflected that. "GT500" sounded about right.

Hey Face, maybe Buick's engine shop was 225 feet from the final production line?

no, i meant that seriously...with a non-working gas gauge? the little pen and notebook method sometimes didn't work...:D

Pen and notebook?? I never thought of that, but when my Caprice was running, it didn't have a gas gauge or odometer, so there was never really anything to write down, just drive awhile and guess:rolleyes:.

    Anyway, welcome from another FNG

no...allow ME to welcome YOU :D ....yea, my Buick had a little vinyl bag that came with the car stock, and i used to hang it from the e-brake handle/lever...it was supposed to be for trash but i just bought me one of them little 69 cent notebooks and kept a pen...i calculated (wrongly at that) the size of the tank when i filled it up completely once, then waited til i ran out thereafter, and saw how many miles had gone by...from there, every time i filled up, new entry..

yea, it kept me from getting stuck on the side of the road...:) my poor little Toyota had an odometer problem, i suppose you could do what that kid on MTV's Pimp My Ride did...? have someone drive next to you and tell you how fast they are going? You write it down on a post it and remember what your RPM's were...sounds BRILLIANT!!
