A couple hoodlums on this board suggested that I come here and hang out with some REAL car guys. Been doing it since 1966 but according to my mom I was a hot rodder when I was two. The neighbor had a 40 Ford Coupe painted "Hamm's Beer" blue with a flamed front. It was LOUD and I loved it. We moved from there when I was five but I still remember that car. My personal preference in cars are FoMoCo products but I am NOT a "FORD GUY". I like cars. Period. Cars of all kinds. Well, 1967 and older, anyway. As stated I started playing with real cars in 1966 (age 16) and learned enough by 1975 that I became a NIASE (remember that ?) mechanic. I worked at a few shops and dealerships, on the line and in service management until Jan 15,1988 when I told the boss to take his job and shove it. I went home and started Cook's Restorations in my backyard shop. Done okay doing it for and by myself for almost 25 years. Lots of cool old cars have gone through the shop, anything from a '30 DeSoto Straight Eight Business Coupe to a '73 Mach One. Most of the projects are 50s and early 60s. Some stone stock restorations, some hot rods. Current projects are a '56 Caddy Eldo Biarritz, a '60 Chrysler New Yorker Hardtop Wagon, a '54 Buick Skylark, and my personal project, a '57 T-bird (acquired with the help of a HAMB member) very "unstock" with a poked 312, Isky cam, Sanderson headers, Edelbrock carb, Cragar S/S wheels, etc etc etc. Let the "purists" scoff..... I have a handful of old Fords in varying conditions, this one is the favorite...
Welcome from Maryland. Great intro and some very cool Ford stuff. You'll be right at home here. .......Don.
