Home from vacation......now I need recovery time from my vacation! Couple packages came! Lug nuts @ $3.99 per wheel!!! COMPLETE front wheel bearing and seal kit for $34.99.....COMPLETE......for the front!! It’s good to be home though...... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looks like God's country and vittles....miss my Virginia..... Sent from my XT1710-02 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Feels like my wheels just keep spinning....making a little progress....waiting on some parts... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You called it! Nellysford/Roseland! It's my Sister's place.....we're retiring there, whenever that may be....
Finally!!! Brakes front and rear done! New bearings, races and seals. I can start plumbing them now! I still have to weld in my support braces but that’s no biggie. I want to load the engine and trans in and roll the whole thing dow to the pressure washer so I can clean up the engine and finish that stuff up. It seems these brakes fought me every inch of the way....just want to paint the engine, bolt it up and move on to the body!! Thanks for hangin’ with me fellas! Note: you can see my caster angle in these pics... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got my braces welded in to add strength to the Xmember and more support for the wishbones.... damn.... I wish my hands were still rock steady, I have difficulty sometimes and I have to stop in the middle of a weld....getting old sucks!! I also boxed the outer sections of the Xmember.....I’ll be making a radiused plate for the center section....I’m debating weather I really need it or not....we’ll see... More progress fellas....YAY!!!! Thanks for stoppin’ by.....
can relate to old hands and muscles locking up and fkn up your welds, and it don't get any better..........but like you work anyway!...........
Got the back half of the brakes plumbed.....Thinking of a way to secure the soft hose to chassis and torque tube. I’ve got a bunch of different T fittings and an assortment of other fittings. I’ll make some bracketry and secure the hose with some of the clips I bought. I’ll figure it out. Thanks for stoppin’ in fellas! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
10 bucks plus shipping for brake hose brackets.....so I made my own! Got the rear lines, T fitting and flex hose wrapped up! I’m happy with it....I’ve already blead the master cylinder so I’ll hang that next and run the front lines. As long as can make a little progress every day, before ya know it I’ll be there. Thanks for hangin’ with me fellas!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Finished up the hard line to the master cylinder. Supervisor came back today with some nice 1/8th cold rolled, so I finally finished up my steering box “pocket”.....feel alot better getting that frame section back together.....onward and upward! Thanks fellas! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks for checkin' in! Progress isn't as fast as I'd like, but sometimes other things have to take priority. I'm really enjoying the process though and documenting it for you guys! The moral support is greatly appreciated!!
Well....our good friend Mr. Bang had pointed out what looked like a camber issue that I attributed to camera distortion. He piqued my curiosity, so I took some measurements and a closer look. Well fellas....the pics speak for themselves.....I did snag another axle from Matt at Irontrap and got it ready for installation. Two steps forward and two steps back! It’s discouraging sometimes, but you guys give me the motivation!....oh yeah....the boss left me a surprise to cover the cost.....love that guy!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Couldn't ask for a better owner/boss! He's a mechanical engineer and "persuaded" me to build it at work so he could witness the fabrication and overall process.....
Yep! I left the axles sitting on the band saw when I got called out of the shop.....he said..."you better take a closer look at that axle" before I went back in the shop....of course he vanished......
