Well, opened up the engine to find its .020 over bore, hardened valve seats, modern valves, locks and keepers, possible pressurize oil system. Does have an ate up fiber cam gear. About to remove the cam. This engine has very little time on it. 3. That does look like low mileage. HRP

Also had a B grind with the larger adjustable lifters. It's no doubt low mileage.

Huge set back. Found a crack in the roof of the valve chamber. Always something. I'm thinking the block is junk.

Do you think you'll bring this down to the race of gentlemen in wildwood?

The new engine is based off of a 29 A block, counterbalance crank, insert rods, 1A cam, larger intake valves, Lion Speed head, .100 overbore, 7.1 compression, gapless rings. It's over at Schwalm's getting done. There is more to it, but that's the major stuff.

Sounds good. I also have a new banger on the way, sounds similar in specs to yours.

Yeah man, Ora really took care of me up there at Schwalm's. I'll be up to grab it Friday morning. Then it's mad thrash time.

Glad you got a good banger in so short a time. Did the rebuild guys confirm, then, that your cracked original block couldn't be fixed?

Yeah, I knew before hand it was not fixable. He won't fix them if they are longer than 2". I think that is what he said. My block had a crack into the distr hole to the middle of cyl # 2&3. I also wanted a block that had never been cracked, which he had. He also did some custom work on it for me. Was done quickly! His work is awesome!

Dig it brother, absolutely killer! Funny, I saw that on IG as well, then started reading this thread, and never made the connection! Someday I would love to participate in the ROG...one thing at a time though! :)

Stoked to hear you found another block, was worried when I saw that "California Crack"! (seen a few of those over the years)
Man! Engine that quick! Everything in it, too...(we used to call that a "Full House"! Bored, balanced, full pressure, cam, milled head, carburetion...Ignition? What'd you do for distributer?)

Roadster turned out beautiful, due to close attention paid to all the particulars.
Wish I could make that race...
