Won't it take a small fortune to bring the Vette back to stock? I mean, might he just over invest and never see a return on his alleged investment? Can he even find what he needs, within his window of profit, without having to sell his first born? I bet that car has more history and value than just another restored 57 Vette.
I would think so, too, but I don't know what he paid for it. It'll certainly cost him a LOT to restore it. Whether or not it'll be "too much" is TBD. We're a bit of a different breed so it's no surprise we'd all want it either left alone or restored to "Gasser Glory". Not everyone looks at cars the way we all do.....and sometimes that sucks.
As a hot rod owner and an original Corvette owner, I'd opt to restore it to original for drive-ability if I was independently wealthy. But clearly the owner doesn't know how much it is going to cost to restore it. It will not be an investment, it will be a money pit.
There is a shop in Aquilla, TX that restores vintage Corvettes - it's called "West Vettes". I know the owner and I have seen their work - man, I wish I had a small fraction of the patience that man must have. Unbelievable.
That Vette is 100x cooler as it sits than it would ever be fully restored in my twisted little world. The Silver Streak is pretty cool too.
I don't know if there is a way to tell but a guy around here in the mid to late 60's had two blown early vettes that he and his wife match raced. Both were blown (if memory serves) and I know at least one was red. His name was Tom Tarrant, he had an AHRA small block Cobra record holder and ran an A/S Plymouth wedge called the Mortar Forker II (sponsored by tha family business Tarrant Masonry Contractors) Don't know if it one of his but it isn't a stretch to think one may have ended up in Austin from Enid OK.

I think the wannabe "investor" is going to lose his shirt on this project ....as well as destroying a piece of history in the process . After he removes, and undoes all of the race car mods to the chassis, he's going to be left, at best, with a good 'Vette hardtop roof, some window glass and most of a bare body shell, that's still gonna' need major repairs to put it back to decent, stock condition. Jeeze..If he really wants an "investment", that in reality. is going to bring him just as good of a return as he gonna' make "restoring" that 'Vette back to factory original....but one that won't require him to do any additional work, I think I know where I can get a few thousand Enron shares that I would be willing to trade him for straight across for the ' Vette! Heck, being the altruistic, generous-hearted and all-round good guy that I am too, just to sweeten the deal a bit more even, I could probably even manage to scrounge up and throw in several thousand share in WorldCom and even some Lehman Bros and Bear- Stearns stock too!!!! Given that it is square, I'd say it was probably feulie stacks or a tunnel ram. That would look badass as a feulie.

Thought I'd give this a Monday bump in hopes that someone may recognize this car and offer up some history on it. I've asked my friend about it and he's going to ask the current owner, but not sure if he'll get any info.
