If my old man was more into cars he may have told me "It's where they filmed American Graffiti" instead of "It's nothing but chicken farms" like he did as we drove past many times on 101.

But nooooooo, that little tidbit of trivia would have to wait until much later in life when I found out on my own.

Would have been bitchin' to have the old man take me through town and out Frates Road.
He did, however, know where some old coot was building a schooner by the river and dragged me out there once or twice.

Dad was into boats :(

Enjoyed the video immensely. Thanks for posting the link.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...... at least in Petaluma!
A very enjoyable 13 minutes, thanks for posting.

I thought the drag race was filmed on the old Black Point Cutoff Rd.
also, how many ''55s were used in the movie. I count 3

I remember sitting in the theater watching the movie with my wife and I told her that we could have been there during the filming. They used some local guys for the cruise cars and we lived only about thirty minutes . I got a couple good jabs for that! I was driving a model A at the time. 327 with a cross ram, 4 speed, side pipes and no hood. They have an American Graffiti car show each year. (Part of the then and now.)

Cool, thanks. Best song ever, I mean, is there any other song that just puts you in that frame of mind than Rock Around The Clock?

I can't belive it's 40 years ago. Still remember the first time I saw it, and it really pointed out my future. I watched it 12 tims in a few weeks and decided to buy me an american car as soon as I could find one, with a very limited budget. I got a -50 4 door Styleline for 2000 kr which translates into 300 bucks, that was a fortune but dad helped me out with my passion. Have been in the industry and hobby since then.

Way cool!

I watched Field of Dreams (filmed in Dubuque, IA supposed to be Boston, MA) again this weekend. Amazing how small towns don't change in 25-40 years. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the film, great stuff. I got married in the Carnegie Library (now City Museum) shown in film. My wife is from Petaluma and we still visit family there. Many of the landmarks in film are pretty easy to find along the Boulevard.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I grew up in neighboring Sonoma where I watched them film a small portion of the movie. The scene where Milner drops the girl off at home and hands her the stick shift knob was filmed on 2nd St East in Sonoma.

Don't know how many of you know George Lucas was a car guy. Below are a few pictures of the semi-factory Shelby Cobra team that he crewed for (Allen Grants Executioner). That is George in the passenger seat of the black and white shot. Not only was he a crew member, he came up with the paint scheme for the Cobra and matching 56 F100 tow rig.

I went with all my Hot Rod buddies to see that in the winter of 73. At that time we had Nova SS, 340 Duster's etc type cars. After the movie about 10 of us layed rubber for about two hours LOL we were Hot Rod posessed !! Thanks for that
