They were all numbered, but I couldn't find a guide to the display.

My favorite is the gal sitting on the snail with her hair blowing back in the wind. FUNNY! Thanks Kirk!

I just read through this whole thread and am amazed at all the cool hood ornaments pictured. Each one is a little work of art. Thanks for posting!
As an aside, I'm fascinated at how Pontiac's hood ornaments managed to morph an Indian into an airplane.:confused:

Kirk, HUGE thanks for posting this wonderful collection! I think you just gave the Gilmore a BIG attendance boost, man. The artistry, humor, history and imagination reflected in these fab pieces is totally amazing!

BTW, the one below was researched and determined to be a side job done by Alex Tremulis, with an eye to the Jet Age and space travel. Though the tage says 1960s, I do believe it goes back to at least the early '50s. This example may have still been sold in the '60s, though.:)

Very Cool Thread. If you ever have a chance to check out The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, CA. They have an incredible collection also. Here is my bulldog radiator cap. Don't know what year it was made, but it is neat looking.
