Dang, we traded a '68 and '69 Cuda for some bodywork a couople of years ago.
What hemi do you have?
Local car, built for exhibition , worked on it trying to make it a little saner for the owner.
Is the book much different than the video? I absolutely am enthralled with the video, but am wondering if the book covers doing the same to non unibody cars- IE GM A bodies...?
If it covers that, I'm all over the book.
and it has 20 photos shot by "yours truly" all shot in the 60's...
You guys are so ambitious! Lookit all that new tubing! Man, I've hardly touched the factory unibody in my Dart, just tied the rails in, extended the nose, and put a good cage in it. Done, just the way they were back in the day. Some of you guys look like you want to run in the 6's!
I'm just shooting for 9 flat-ish, just like back in the day.
Not being ambitious, got it for peanuts as the floor was long gone so the tubes are all that holds it together, I`ll be happy if it runs a 14!
canuck does that 57 come with a extension ladder to get in it..
Have not been to this thread in a while. Cool photo's guys, very cool.
^He rolled it. then got it running and took it down the strip again!
PURE BAD ASS right here.........you da' man!!!
I must be sick.....cause i love it!
Seen this at Sacramento NSRA today
1967 Pix of my car in the staging lanes.
This car is NOT my friend's, my older brothers, my Dad's or just someone I knew or heard about.
It is me, in my car, in 1967.
I was 25 years old. Built the car 100% entirely myself in the shop in my Speed Shop in Mattoon Illinois during the winter of 1966.
Goldfinger, that's a great photo. Where all did you race , was that taken at Charleston? Whatever happened to the car?
I think the pix was taken (by someone I don't know, but a friend of mine emailed it to me) at Winceville, MO. drag strip.
Yup, I raced at Charleston Dragway, Springfield ( ILL ), Harrisburg, Marion, (ILL), Pacific, Mo, Alton (ILL), St Louis International, Muncie (IND) , Indianapolis, IND, US 30 (ILL) and maybe some others,,,it was over 40 years ago.
I sold the car in 1969. Put an ad in National Dragster and a guy came from Burlington Vermont and bought the car.
Never saw it or heard anything about it after that...although I have been continually asking anyone if they know anything that might have happened to the car after I sold it.
The book has more content, thats for sure! When we built the car, Steve always photographed two and three times. So, there are some pictures that better explain certain parts that may be skimmed over in the video. Seems like an eternity back when we did it.
By the way, Steve has another video out, its kinda wacky as well, but some cool race coverage. Another "cult" classic for sure!
