I have to ask....How long did that 'quick trip' to the parts store take? Seems anytime I have my car out for a 'quick trip' it always take too long because someone has to check it out. I bet EVERYONE had to check that out!

And who wouldn’t like to park their ‘chute-equipped ride at the auto parts store?

    A little bit!

I built the racing tips for the headers, need some more white VHT to make them look right. We also put some mudflap/inner fenders up front, because I drove through some mud (1/4 mile long dirt driveway, and it rained yesterday), and it gets everywhere. Fixed a fender bracket, so it wouldn't shake around so much. Still have a few more things to do, including pulling valve covers and checking valve clearance and looking for problems, and change the oil.

I guess we'll try to leave Thursday, hauling it out to Atlanta with my wife's late model truck.

I did fire it up for a few seconds with one zoomie on (instead of the muffler), it sounds pretty damn good.

  9. Sounds like the car is ready. How many miles is it. For me it's 850

    Awesome!!

I'm probably not telling you anything that you don't know... ...on the death wobble issue. I'd recheck the toe adjustments before messing around with a steering stabilizer. Most any time I've ever had death wobble it was due to the toe-in adjustment being way off (too much toe-in I think) Besides that, a steering stabilizer will add extra weight.

Good luck on the tour, I look forward to following your progress. The build has been fantastic to watch and the tour will be just as thrilling. We're all pulling for you!

I'd shit my pants if I saw something like that at the local parts hut. I might have to buy me a Hot Rod magazine again in a month or 2

Jim, Congratulations on the great results, what a great looking hot rod. Best wishes at Drag Week and we're all anticipating a continuation of this great blog. I built my gasser 55 years ago and sprayed it white so I'm partial to the paint on your "Almost Funny." Good luck, Ron

That thing discretely placed amongst normal every day vehicles in ordinary parking lots is “Almost Funny”

I don’t know if it’s been discussed or not but to you expect her to be quicker than the Chevy?
    Have fun be safe Jim.

  24. I just had a crazy thought, a woman takes 9 months to grow and deliver a baby, you took 9 months to build and deliver a funny car !
