That was why so many old race cars were painted white, the waves, ripples, and divots don't show up in white as quickly as they do in darker colors. I can do pretty good body work, but I can't stand doing it very long. Usually it takes a few rounds of fill, sand, paint, use, then repeat, before it gets very smooth. Gene

Judging from his last two cars, I'd say red would be a good guess, with maybe red and white if he decides on a two tone.

All kinds of options over a white main coat if you decide to go further;) Lettering, stripes, big 60s/70s metalic prizm looking lettering (for lack of proper term:D) or etc.

well, it's white now. Definitely a race car, not a show car.

Wow! I've been busy and haven't kept up on the progress - amazing. Your mindset about it being an old '60s race car and not a show car makes it (for me) one of the best builds on the HAMB ever. Just get 'er done and go racing, can't beat that philosophy.
Doing custom headers and exhaust systems for most of my life I always wanted to do a dual purpose zoomie/weedburner w/street hook-ups like what you're doing. It never fit the style of my own cars and no one ever came in asking for a system like that so I never did build one. I like your approach, can't wait to see it done.

I blocked the parts where I added filler, then primed that again, then sanded the whole thing. I needed to spend another day or two or maybe a week on it, to get it to be straight and nice, but I didn't. it's liberating :)

You WILL execute on the plan. A lot of folks just don't understand how that happens.

Agree totally on the white paint Jim, light color like white , yellow or orange doesn't show waves and such like reds, blues and greens, etc. And when you get the lettering and decals, etc. on, stategic placement will also help. Learned this back in my dirt track racing days.

What I learned was it was a waste of time to block out a race car, because the first time you really got it to hook the rear tires and if you had the gonads to keep your foot in it the doors would twist, the quarters would buckle and the windshield would crack. But it was sure one hell of a ride.

I wish I had a picture our first funny car Jim but I don't. It looks pretty much like your Chevy except it was injected, no blower. Nose was different, fiberglass one piece. You are building a time capsule. I am very impressed.

I wasn’t trying to act all primadonna with you Jim. I just think your progress is as fast as or more so than the car will be. I thought you must be bending the rule book to be beating all these other builds so badly.

spent some time playing with the fenders, again. The right side, I cut some seams apart, and moved things a little, and welded it back together, to get the line at the lower rear part to fit better. They got filler and a coat of primer, but they need more bodywork before I attempt to make molds and then fiberglass copies of them.

They weigh 25 lbs each in steel.
