Well I have been doing a couple changes to my roadster, so I figured I might as well start a thread. I found this Roadster here on the H.A.M.B. Me and my brother left to go get it three weeks ago. We left at 6:00am Thursday. Rolled into Tonopah, NV 17 hours later. Woke up, went and met Jim. Loaded up the roadster and headed back to Spokane, WA. Put in another 17 hours back, putting us in Spokane at 4:00am. So far what I have done is: Waxed up the body to give the paint a little shine Swapped windshield stantions left to right, so I could lay them back. also polished them. Put 17" & 18" wires on it, with new tires. The motor had very bad blow by and leaked, so I swapped it out. Motor I am borrowing for now. It originally was in my brother's (Chris) coupe. He then put it in his roadster, which he is now V8ing. So now it might as well go in this thing for a while. I thought it would be neat to stretch my own headlight bar, so I did that I had some BLC's sitting around that just happen to match the paint perfectly, so I put them on too I've done a bunch of other little stuff just to make it a little better drive. What do you guys think about the direction I am going with it? Here is one of the for sale pics before I got it. Here it is waxed up with the tires/wheels I thought I might as well pressure wash the fire wall while the engine is out This is my stretched headlight bar jig/ head light mount for the snow plow rig. beings we haven't gotten any snow this year, figured I should still put it to use some how... Bar painted up, BLC's mounted. This is current photo
I plan on driving it with the box in the back, until I collect all the pieces to fix it. Quarters, deck lid, panel below deck lid. I found the panel above deck lid already, but have to go pick it up (Thanks Billy).
Do you use the electric winch to pull the headlight bar down? Make up a jig for front axles and pull one down for the pickster. Then it will be DONE.
i remember seeing this coupe for sale, was one heck of a deal but i just didnt like how they converted the trunk into a truck bed. but looks you know what you want and building it right. goodluck.
That little Roadster has been many places this past year... Glad to see it found a home. Unfortunately not my home! Hahaha...!
That little roadster's lucky day when it found you. It looks great! You shoulda put a stack through the hood top for the blow by and made a honorary steam engine out of it. Can't wait to take the Phaeton out for it's maiden voyage. Prob'ly tomorrow. Today's gettin' away from me already.
HOTROD...you did GOOD grasshoper! and when you get the deck lid on, you'll have 1 sweet little hoopy. thank's for posting...POP.
So this must be the roadster you sold your pickup to buy? Nice! So much easier when you start with something clean to begin with.
missed buying this one...found a 1930 down the street...as soon as the RPU finds a home I'll join y'all...
Hey Cory your roadster is looking great! Nice job on that headlight bar drop.. the jig too! I will keep looking the trunk area parts you need.. see you in a few weeks.
I used ratchet straps, because I had to a little on each side at a time. I would love a jig to stretch axles! does anyone know if there is a tread on building one?
Actually I decided not to buy a roadster before cause I didn't have a job. This one came along and I still don't have a job, but couldn't kick that darn roadster fever! haha!
