Did not break the seal. It has some slack so it won't break from vibration. I just took this picture. 20150915_162350.jpg

You boys make it to Union Grove yet?

  7. Thanks to the guys posting up the live feed. I had people at work watching it and they don't even like drag racing. What a great story. Good luck

  10. So I'm looking at this chunk of tamper-proof tape stuck to the hood and fender of your car. And I'm thinking to myself (which is my favorite way), "I wonder if there's any chance that removing that tape might damage the paint on his car?"

But then I realized that you're never, ever, EVER going to take that tape off, are you? :D

If the Blower Rotors were "Timed" using the original GM shims behind the front drive gears, it is very easy to damage the shims by backfiring or "sneezing" the Blower. The shims are compressed and flattened which throw the rotors out of time and can create quite the mess. This can also break the front bearing support plate.

  15. Looked at the results for day 1 at Hotrod.com and it listed:
James Forbes 1962 Chevrolet Chevy II Red 10.769 127.37

    Clerical error??

    GO SQUIRREL GO!

  16. First pass was too quick ( 9.92 ). I believe what's listed is pass # 2. His class can't go below 10.00.

Hey Squirrel, how's it feel to have Hambers from all over the world living vicariously through you? You know we all wish we were in your shoes, er seat.

Well try as I might I couldn't get to see Jim run, just couldn't dial [pun] the time in right..By accident I caught the guys talking about Jim's blower problem and they seemed to indicate that it happened on the road but they also stated that Jim's hood is sealed and Jim posted it still is...So blower out and in with hood on; to me a major back busting feat..He da man!!! ..

We are eating dinner in Union Grove. Survived the Chicago traffic jam. I'll have to get on my laptop to tell me if the blower story

I left my gas cap on the turnpike. I need one. The parts store says they can get me one at 9.30am. I wonder if I can find one earlier so I can run in the first session

I have to say I have had very little interest in dragweek until this car and this trip!

A car built with all old technology , not only racing and laying down some good numbers ... But driven 1,400 miles to the first race ... That's pretty huge deal in my opinion ... The bar is set pretty high for anyone to out do this adventure!

Thanks for bringing all of us along

For curiousity ,what would a competitive racecar like this in the 60s ran for times?

Yep. That 1,400 one way to START is more than most do in a year of Ricky Street Wacer.
