like a freakin' glacier. I decided a couple weeks ago to stop puttering around in the "parts collecting" stage and actually get an idea of what I need to build up my hot rod Model A pickup. I got the frame (story goes that it once was used as a wall of a chicken coop), I got the axles (1940, from my research), I got the split bones, I got something to start with, so I began the mockup a couple weeks ago. I even have an enclosed porch included with my apartment - a place to lay it out. Plan is to run it highboy-style, find a 30/31 closed-cab body, find a Model A/B four-banger and throw it all together. Don't intend to spend a lot of money on this thing. That's because I don't have much to begin with. But I do intend to learn as much as I can about building a hot rod with this project (note: This is the first car I've attempted to build from the ground up. so go easy on me). Even have a couple dashes to pick from '63 full-size Jeep on the left, '53 Chevy on the right. Whichever one I use will have to be narrowed, though I'm leaning toward the more stylish Chevy (Rocky, need a dash for your new project?). hitting the swap meets this weekend and next. will update as I progress. dan
Foul, That looks like a good start for a great project! You've got some nice pieces to start out with, a good plan,..which you may modify a hundred times !? I would also go for the 53 dash, but that's only my opinion. Please keep us posted with project progress... /
The chevy dash...man is this post a whole lot better than some guy talking about his stupid dorm adventures. Nice work, keep the progress comin.
Dan, It looks like your off to a good start. It's going to be a busy couple of weekends around us for swap meets and hopefully you'll find what you need. Maybe I'll see you guys at Amherst. Are you going to Thompson and Lake Compounce? One other question for you, in MA we call those enclosed porches, but in VT don't they call them attached garages?
Nice pix,Dan. Looks like you are off to a good start. We'll try to fill your shopping list when you go to Compunce with us.I'm not looking for anything in particular ,so having your list will make it much more fun. Besides, I LOVE spending someone else's money!!

I'm just wondering what I'll do when it comes time to drive it out, or try to fit the body through the screen door. It's a good thing my landlord thinks what I'm doing is kinda cool. Yeah, I'm gonna hit Compounce with CruZer and his group. Thompson is that same weekend, right? Fill me in on those details. thanks, dan
You've got a great start there man. That frame looks solid. Great work space too (!). I love the resourcefulness. LMK how you make out this weekend. I hate having to work weekends, I've never even been to one of these swaps. I have to pull teeth just to get to Greatwoods in the spring. Anyway, I hope you find the motherlode.
